Vision

Judges 6 - The Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and for seven years he gave them into the hands of the Midianites. 2 Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds. 3 Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country. 4 They camped on the land and ruined the crops all the way to Gaza and did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys. 5 They came up with their livestock and their tents like swarms of locusts. It was impossible to count them or their camels; they invaded the land to ravage it. 6 Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the Lord for help.

Over the last few weeks have been following the journey of Gideon.  At the time God called him, he only saw what was before him.  This was his paradigm.

He could see:

  • -Scarcity

  • - Lack

  • - Problems

  • - Fear

  • - Worry

  • - Defeat

Like Gideon, many of our minds have been set for failure and mediocrity.  You will have been told many things since childhood that will have set your paradigm.  Statements like:

  • money does not grow on trees

  • you will never be successful unless you have a degree

  • etc.

God however sees past all that programming and calls us to be a prophetic people.

Just look at Gideon.  He was cowering when God called him, however Gods calling lifted his eyes above the natural and called forth a new reality. God called him a mighty man of valour.

Godly vision allows you to see what could be, not what currently is.  It is up to you to start unfolding that vision into reality.  This is a process, not an instant miraculous event.  If you are not diligent, you can abort this process at any stage. Inspiration without follow through is like a seed in your pocket that will never see the light of day.

If you look at the image below, you will see that it starts at the centre with inspiration. Inspiration is like a seed.

After that the process grows, it is starting to grow some roots. When God gives you an idea - you need to start by gathering more information about it.

The next step is revelation; where that information becomes a real part of you and the flesh and bones of a plan are starting to form in your mind.

After that comes application, where you start to actually put things into place for the fulfilment of the plan.

The next stage is perspiration - this is where the rubber hits the road and the hard work starts, tilling the ground, keeping out the weeds, watering that seed.

Then finally fruition happens, which is also the biggest circle of all!  Like the bible says - we harvest 30x 60x or even a 100x.

In Gen 26, God gave Isaac an inspiration.  Even though there was a famine in the land and everyone's crops were failing.  He told Isaac to stay put.  The bible goes on to say:

v12 Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him. 13 The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. 14 He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.

God calls us to be a prophetic people.  You will find that when you start following the promptings of the Holy Spirit, people will be wondering what on earth you are doing.  However when you stick with it, the results will be supernatural!

Finally, start where you are; do whatever you do now with a degree of perfection, so that mediocrity will not follow you.  Do whatever you do with a sense of significance and importance and you will be blessed.
