A confident faith

Today our churches are emptying at an alarming rate. People are falling away from the christian faith in their droves. According to the spectator magazine:

"Every ten years the census spells out the situation in detail: between 2001 and 2011 the number of Christians born in Britain fell by 5.3 million — about 10,000 a week. If that rate of decline continues, the mission of St Augustine to the English, together with that of the Irish saints to the Scots, will come to an end in 2067.

That is the year in which the Christians who have inherited the faith of their British ancestors will become statistically invisible. Parish churches everywhere will have been adapted for secular use, demolished or abandoned."

So who dropped the baton? Why is faith no longer successfully passed to the next generation? I think that it is a sign of the times we are living in. This verse written in the bible 2000 years ago describes it well:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. 2 Tim 3

There is a religion which has been gaining momentum over the last 50 years. It is atheism. Their agenda has been growing and their ideology has infiltrated every layer of society. They worked slowly, but surely, to push christianity to the edges and establish man as the ultimate God. One of the biggest tactics has been the introduction of the theory of evolution, which is now being taught as fact in our schools and universities. This has had a very destructive effect on the minds of our young people. The reasoning goes - if there is no creation, then there is no God. If there is no God, then you can just do whatever you like. Just eat, drink and be merry and then you die.

Anyone who dares to argue with the 'scientific facts' are immediately declared as foolish and ridiculed for believing in God. But when you press them for evidence, you soon find that they will struggle to give you solid proof for their theories.

We have nothing to be ashamed about. We have every reason to be confident in our God. We can defend our faith with 'the power of God' and good reasoning.

The man with experience is never at the mercy of the man with an argument.

You have to display the power of God in your lifestyle and the wisdom of God in your words. When you really get down to it there is plenty of evidence to support the biblical record.

If you want to learn more about creation science, I suggest you listen to some talks by Billy Crone on Youtube. He does a great series on Dinosaurs and his series about 'the flood'.

Finally, Paul says that I have come to you, not just with clever arguments, but with the power of God so that your faith might not rest on words alone, but on the power of God.

My advice to you: start reading your bible, start asking God to do His works in and through your life. Lay hands on the sick, cast out devils, raise the dead, perform miracles in His name. It is the evidence the world is waiting for.
